Position Summary
The Engineering Stores Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with EABL engineering stores processes. The role oversees all activities from receiving maintenance work orders and preparing requisitions to receiving deliveries, maintaining inventory accuracy, and investigating stock discrepancies. The position also ensures efficient stores operations while complying with safety, inventory, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Stores Operations & Inventory Management
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately.
- Capture all inventory transactions accurately within the system.
- Issue the correct quality and quantity of materials according to customer requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions in SAP.
- Participate in monthly and annual stock-taking exercises.
- Perform recounts to verify stock count accuracy.
- Assist in investigating stock discrepancies and inventory variances.
- Track materials accurately throughout the supply chain from receipt to delivery.
- Ensure direct deliveries are collected promptly.
Materials Management
- Ensure all materials received meet company specifications.
- Protect materials until they are returned to suppliers where applicable.
- Quarantine returned materials to prevent accidental use.
- Ensure materials are issued using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principle.
- Maintain secure and controlled storage locations.
- Ensure every material has an assigned bin/location.
- Verify that all materials are stored in their designated locations.
- Ensure all materials are properly labeled according to company standards.
- Maintain compliance with Global Asset Care Inventory Standards.
Stores Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure materials are managed according to documented work instructions.
- Assist in improving stores procedures and work instructions.
- Participate in the development and revision of work instructions.
- Generate and review reports required for effective stores control.
Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Enforce Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards across the stores operation.
- Ensure the work area complies with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, work instructions, and equipment specifications.
- Maintain and update safety reports and inspection checklists.
- Promote a safe and organized working environment through good housekeeping practices.
Personal Development
- Continuously develop personal knowledge and skills to improve individual and team productivity and performance.
Qualifications
- Diploma in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Processing Engineering
- Or any related Engineering discipline
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in stores management.
- Proficiency in:
- SAP
- EQMS
- Microsoft Office Applications
- Strong inventory management and stock control skills.
- Good organizational and documentation abilities.
- Knowledge of FIFO inventory practices.
- Understanding of engineering stores procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
