Position Overview
The Superintendent – Geological Support Services provides technical leadership and governance across mine geology systems to ensure high-quality geological data, modelling, and reconciliation.
The role supports accurate ore definition, efficient mining, and reliable production tracking across multiple ore bodies.
Objective of the Role
- Ensure accurate ore definition, routing, and blending for optimal plant feed
- Maintain robust geological data systems
- Support operational decision-making through advanced geoscience analysis
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership & Operational Support
- Provide leadership for geological systems in open-pit and underground mining
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of geological data and workflows
- Oversee ore definition, mining, and tracking processes
- Apply advanced geoscience expertise for operational decisions
2. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Improve geological workflows and data quality
- Maintain geological software and data platforms
- Deliver analytical reports for decision-making
3. People & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coach and mentor geology team members
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
- Promote company values and safety standards
Role Requirements
Education
- BSc (Hons) in Geology
Experience
- Minimum 10 years in mining industry
- At least 5 years in mineral resource evaluation (gold deposits)
- Registered with a recognized professional body
- Knowledge of:
- Tanzanian Mining Act (2010, amended 2017)
- ISO45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety)
- ISO14001:2015 (Environmental Management)
Skills & Competencies
- Mine-to-mill reconciliation
- Data analysis tools (Power BI, MS Office, Connected Mine, etc.)
- Geological data interpretation & 3D modelling
- Software: Datamine, Leapfrog, Geovariance Isatis
- Project management and team supervision
- Strong decision-making and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High reliability and performance focus
