Job Purpose

The System Admin: M-PESA Applications Support will be responsible for the end-to-end operational support of the M-PESA core platform and its associated digital channels.

The role involves monitoring application performance, resolving user issues, coordinating with development teams, maintaining system security and ensuring a seamless mobile money experience for end users.

Key Responsibilities

System Management and M-PESA Support

• Perform system management for the M-PESA Core platform.
• Monitor the performance and availability of the M-PESA mobile application on Android and iOS platforms.
• Respond to and resolve user-reported issues, application crashes and bugs in a timely manner.
• Track application analytics and crash reports using tools such as Firebase or similar platforms.
• Perform and maintain system incident, problem and change management processes with internal and external M-Pesa Africa (MPA) stakeholders.
• Maintain system security and ensure appropriate security practices are implemented.
• Support Business Continuity Management activities.
• Support Mini App development, implementation and operations.
• Support all M-PESA-related projects, including MPA and local projects.
• Provide M-PESA product support.

Qualifications and Experience

Core Competencies, Knowledge and Experience

Candidates should have knowledge and experience in the following areas:

• Operating systems, including Unix, Linux (RHEL and SUSE) and Windows.
• Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), including Oracle, GaussDB and MySQL.
• Mobile security best practices.
• Android and iOS platforms.
• Mobile application architecture and APIs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
• Understanding of mobile money platforms, particularly M-PESA, is highly desirable.

Academic Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.
