Job Summary

St Constantine’s International School is seeking a qualified and experienced Tanzanian Physics Teacher to join its teaching team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the secondary Physics curriculum, preparing and assessing students, managing the classroom, supporting students’ academic and personal development, and contributing to the wider life of the school.

The teacher will develop schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with curriculum objectives, foster positive relationships with students, assess and record progress, and prepare students for examinations.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Delivery

  • Teach all areas of the secondary Physics curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that meet the needs of students across different ability levels.
  • Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations.
  • Motivate students through enthusiastic and imaginative teaching approaches.
  • Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and develop new curriculum materials.
  • Use a range of learning resources and teaching equipment, including digital learning tools.
  • Keep up to date with curriculum developments and changes.
  • Coordinate activities and resources within the Physics curriculum area.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan and coordinate teaching activities.

Assessment and Student Development

  • Take responsibility for the academic progress of students in assigned classes.
  • Prepare and mark students’ work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and development.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting requirements.
  • Provide parents and guardians with feedback on students’ progress during meetings and parents’ evenings.

Classroom Management and Student Support

  • Organize classrooms and learning resources to create a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain discipline and manage student behaviour effectively.
  • Apply appropriate measures when dealing with misconduct.
  • Undertake pastoral duties, including serving as a form tutor where required.
  • Provide individual support to students experiencing academic or personal difficulties.

School Activities and Community Engagement

  • Participate in and organize school events, outings, and activities, including activities that may occur during evenings or weekends.
  • Work with parents to encourage their involvement in school activities and resource development.
  • Meet with other professionals, including education welfare officers and educational psychologists, when required.

Collaboration and Professional Development

  • Liaise effectively with colleagues and work flexibly as part of the school team.
  • Supervise and support teaching assistants, trainee teachers, and newly qualified teachers.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parents’ evenings, and whole-school training.
  • Participate in regular lesson observations.
  • Undertake in-service training and continuing professional development.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the school.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • At least two years of experience teaching Physics – essential.
  • Experience teaching the English or Cambridge curriculum – desirable.
