Job Overview

Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) is seeking a qualified Tax Accountant to join its Finance team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Tax Manager and support the organization in ensuring full compliance with Tanzanian tax laws and statutory requirements.

CCBA is the largest Coca-Cola bottler in Africa and the eighth-largest authorized Coca-Cola bottler globally by revenue. The company operates across 14 African countries and serves more than 800,000 customers.


Key Purpose of the Role

The Tax Accountant will assist the Tax Manager in:

  • Managing tax compliance obligations.
  • Preparing tax calculations and statutory returns.
  • Processing tax payments and reconciliations.
  • Supporting tax audits and risk management activities.
  • Liaising with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).
  • Maintaining accurate tax records and documentation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns, including:
    • VAT
    • Withholding Tax
    • Corporate Income Tax
    • Other applicable statutory taxes
  • Prepare tax payment schedules and ensure timely payment of tax obligations.
  • Maintain and monitor a comprehensive tax compliance calendar.
  • Keep updated on changes in Tanzanian tax legislation and communicate relevant updates to the Tax Manager.
  • Maintain complete tax records, acknowledgements, receipts, and supporting documents.

Tax Reconciliations and Reporting

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for:
    • VAT
    • Withholding Tax
    • Corporate Income Tax
    • Other statutory obligations
  • Review tax-related general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with current and deferred tax calculations for:
    • Monthly management reports
    • Annual financial statements
  • Prepare tax schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits.

Tax Audits and Revenue Authority Engagement

  • Reconcile company tax records with TRA statements and records.
  • Support the resolution of tax discrepancies.
  • Assist in responding to:
    • Tax audits
    • Inspections
    • Assessments
    • Objections
    • TRA queries
  • Organize documentation required for tax reviews and audits.
  • Draft responses to routine tax queries for review by the Tax Manager.
  • Maintain a tracker for:
    • Tax audits
    • Assessments
    • Objections
    • Refunds
    • Outstanding tax matters

Internal Tax Support

  • Coordinate with departments to obtain information required for tax matters.
  • Provide tax guidance to:
    • Finance
    • Procurement
    • Payroll
    • Sales
    • Operational teams
  • Review invoices, supplier payments, and customer transactions to ensure correct tax treatment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and controls.
  • Support tax awareness and training initiatives.
  • Ensure tax files are organized and audit-ready.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Finance, or
    • Taxation

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in:
    • Tax Accounting
    • Finance
    • Audit
    • Related fields
  • Practical knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, including:
    • VAT
    • PAYE
    • Withholding Tax
    • Corporate Income Tax
    • Statutory Levies
  • Experience preparing:
    • Tax returns
    • Tax reconciliations
    • Supporting schedules
  • Exposure to:
    • Tax audits
    • TRA correspondence
    • External tax advisors (advantageous)
  • Experience with ERP systems such as:
    • Oracle
    • Microsoft Dynamics
    • Similar platforms (added advantage)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
