Job Summary

UBA is seeking a Team Lead, Telecommunications to drive Corporate and Commercial Banking business within the telecommunications sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for client acquisition, relationship management, portfolio growth, credit management, business development and leading Relationship Managers and Relationship Officers.

Key Responsibilities

• Acquire new corporate and commercial clients and manage existing relationships within the telecommunications sector.
• Generate new-to-bank business and reactivate dormant relationships to increase deposits.
• Conduct customer site visits and assess business operations, assets and collateral.
• Analyze telecommunications industry trends, regulations and customer needs.
• Develop tailored banking solutions and strategies for telecommunications clients.
• Monitor credit facilities, risk triggers, conditions and covenants.
• Manage deteriorating, watch-listed and non-performing accounts and initiate recovery actions.
• Recommend viable and profitable risk assets to improve portfolio profitability.
• Manage customer investments and banking facilities.
• Achieve targets for PBT, deposits, risk assets, guarantees, foreign exchange, fees and commissions.
• Lead, supervise and develop Relationship Managers and Relationship Officers.
• Research industry developments and emerging products to strengthen the bank’s value proposition.
• Review and analyze credit applications and prepare credit memoranda.
• Ensure compliance with UBA’s credit, HR, operational and other applicable policies.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Head of Corporate Banking.

Key Performance Indicators

• Achievement of approved PBT targets.
• 100% achievement of annual targets for deposits, risk assets, fees and commissions.
• New client conversions and dormant account reactivations.
• Growth and quality of the managed portfolio.
• Viable and profitable risk-asset portfolio.
• Performance of Relationship Managers and Relationship Officers.
• Timely and accurate performance reporting.

Qualifications

Required:

• First Degree in a Business-related field or Social Sciences from a reputable university.

Added Advantage:

• Master’s degree/MBA.
• Relevant professional certifications.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant banking experience.
• Exposure to the Telecommunications sector.
• Proven experience in credit and relationship management.
