Purpose of the Job

The Technical Assistant – Agribusiness will support the implementation of the Women and Youth Economic Empowerment in Fisheries (WYEEFIMA) Project in Tanzania.

The role focuses on strengthening fisheries value chains, supporting women and youth economic empowerment, facilitating training activities, coordinating stakeholders, monitoring project performance, and enhancing market access opportunities for project beneficiaries.


Key Responsibilities

1. Management of Project Partners

  • Strengthen collaboration and linkages between:
    • District Government Officials
    • Project stakeholders
    • Kilimo Trust
  • Support Resident Associates, Trainers of Trainers (ToTs), and project participants during implementation.
  • Facilitate market access opportunities for fisheries value chain actors.

2. Project Implementation

Training & Capacity Building

  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of training materials.
  • Support coordination of training sessions and logistics.
  • Build the capacity of:
    • Trainers of Trainers (ToTs)
    • Fish traders
    • Fish processors
    • Other fisheries value chain actors

Technical Support

Provide support on:

  • Post-Harvest Handling (PHH) techniques
  • Fisheries business development
  • Market access initiatives

Market Linkages

  • Facilitate connections between traders and suppliers of PHH technologies.
  • Support access to financial services and financing opportunities.
  • Assist with distribution of PHH technologies and materials.

Activity Implementation

  • Conduct project activities according to approved implementation plans.
  • Ensure timely execution of planned interventions.

3. Project Monitoring & Evaluation

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain communication with project participants regarding:
    • Training schedules
    • Follow-up activities
    • Project updates

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and submit monthly technical reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare monthly regional progress reports.

Monitoring Activities

  • Conduct regular field visits and monitoring activities.
  • Coordinate with trainers and stakeholders.
  • Track project implementation progress.

Data Management

  • Collect participant information and feedback.
  • Enter and manage project data.
  • Support data analysis for project reporting and learning.
  • Ensure accurate data capture for WYEEFIMA project indicators.

Business Organization Support

  • Support establishment and management of business organizations and producer groups.
  • Facilitate organization and mobilization of project beneficiaries.

4. Finance & Administration

  • Comply with project financial regulations and controls.
  • Adhere to organizational operational guidelines.
  • Support documentation and management of project records and files.

5. Information & Communication

Support development and dissemination of:

  • Best practice documentation
  • Success stories
  • Lessons learned
  • Articles and newsletters
  • Press releases
  • Learning and communication materials

6. Human Resource Management

Provide supervision and support to:

  • Resident Associates
  • Village Agents
  • Community-based facilitators

7. Fundraising & Resource Mobilization

  • Contribute to fundraising initiatives of KT Tanzania.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts where required.
  • Participate in proposal development activities when assigned.

  • Trade Facilitation
  • Related Field

Additional Advantage

  • Training or experience in project coordination.

Experience Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience supporting:
    • Agricultural development projects
    • Rural development programs
  • Experience in:
    • Data collection and management
    • Report writing
    • Logistics coordination
    • Community mobilization

Preferred Experience

  • Conducting trainings and capacity-building activities.
  • Supporting small traders and producer groups.
  • Group formation and management.
  • Women and youth empowerment projects.
  • Fisheries or agribusiness value chain projects.

Language Requirements

Added Advantage

Ability to communicate effectively in:

  • Kiswahili
  • Local community languages

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an agribusiness or rural development professional with experience supporting community-based development projects. They should possess strong coordination, training, monitoring, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a passion for empowering women and youth through sustainable fisheries and agribusiness value chains.
