Objective of the Role

The Technician 2 – Evaluation will support laboratory and data evaluation activities across the assay and sample management workflow.

The role is responsible for ensuring precise sample handling, rigorous QA/QC, data validation, and coordinated analytical programmes to deliver accurate, timely, and auditable assay results in line with AngloGold Ashanti standards and Mineral Resource estimation requirements.

Role Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Uphold safety by following AGA/GGM standards, PPE requirements, TAKE 5 procedures, hazard identification, and Safety Leading Indicators while supporting compliant laboratory evaluation activities.
  • Plan the insertion of QC materials into all sample streams.
  • Implement and monitor QA/QC in line with AGA Geoscience guidelines.
  • Review QA/QC results, investigate anomalies, and prepare weekly and monthly reports.
  • Prepare, package, and dispatch samples to accredited laboratories with complete documentation and chain-of-custody records.
  • Maintain sample integrity throughout the sample handling and dispatch process.
  • Validate submissions against laboratory reports.
  • Reconcile assay results, resolve discrepancies, and support data validation.
  • Escalate material inconsistencies where necessary.
  • Support bottle roll tests, multi-element programmes, and umpire checks.
  • Coordinate logistics to ensure timely sample collection and delivery.
  • Maintain auditable records.
  • Manage the storage and disposal of sample remnants.
  • Liaise on dispatch priorities.
  • Assist Coordinator 1 Evaluation as required.

Role Requirements

Education and Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following education and qualification requirements:

  • Minimum Diploma in Geology or equivalent.
  • In exceptional circumstances, a secondary certificate may be accepted with at least seven (7) years of relevant operational experience in geological or QA/QC activities.

Experience

Applicants should have:

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in sample handling, laboratory data workflows, Geological Data Management, and other geological activities.

Knowledge and Skills

Applicants should possess the following knowledge, skills, and personal attributes:

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Fusion database.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC concepts.
  • Strong data management and data entry skills.
  • Understanding of departmental and sitewide HSE standards.
  • Physical fitness to work in geological environments.
  • Strong organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Diligence and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Adaptability.
  • High level of integrity.

  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
