Job Purpose

The Truck Repair Technician will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing company trucks and heavy-duty logistics vehicles.

The successful candidate will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults, maintain workshop safety standards, and ensure the company fleet remains reliable and roadworthy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diagnostics & Mechanical Maintenance

• Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of heavy-duty diesel trucks.
• Repair and overhaul major truck systems including:
  • Engines
  • Transmission systems
  • Air brake systems
  • Suspension systems
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Steering systems
• Use diagnostic scanners and specialized workshop tools to identify faults.
• Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to restore vehicle performance.

2. Preventive Maintenance & Fleet Reliability

• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance activities.
• Minimize vehicle breakdowns through timely inspections and repairs.
• Work with drivers to assess reported vehicle problems.
• Conduct post-repair tests to confirm proper vehicle operation.
• Ensure trucks comply with:
  • National road safety standards
  • Technical regulations
  • Company maintenance requirements

3. Documentation & Workshop Management

• Maintain accurate records of:
  • Vehicle repairs
  • Service schedules
  • Spare parts replacements
  • Maintenance costs
• Report major mechanical failures and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
• Maintain clean and organized workshop areas.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Background

Mandatory:

• Diploma or Degree in:
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Related technical field

Experience & Technical Competencies

• Minimum 1 year of practical experience in:
  • Truck repair
  • Heavy-duty diesel engine maintenance
  • Fleet workshop operations
• Strong knowledge of:
