Key Responsibilities

1. Manage Airtel Money Customer Lifecycle Management, New Customer Acquisition and Retention

  • Drive customer adoption of Airtel Money among both new customers and existing customers who have never used the service.
  • Identify and analyze industry and geographic trends with business strategy implications.
  • Regularly update management on market, competitor activities, and products.
  • Support Airtel Money planning, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Create and maintain business intelligence tools and systems, including related databases, spreadsheets, and outputs.
  • Maintain and update Airtel Money business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, and methodologies.
  • Collect mobile money business intelligence data from industry reports, public information, field reports, and purchased sources.
  • Synthesize current business intelligence and trend data to support business recommendations and actions.
  • Provide historical, current, and predictive views of Airtel Money business performance using data warehouses, data cubes, and operational data.
  • Engage with customers, competitors, suppliers, professional organizations, and other stakeholders to remain informed about industry and business trends.
  • Analyze competitive market strategies through product, market, and market-share trends.
  • Establish an analytics capability to proactively identify opportunities for business units to leverage data efficiently.
  • Develop the strategy and roadmap for the Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics platform and drive the features and functions required to deliver insights for evolving business needs.

2. Provide Reports for Executive Management Business Reviews

  • Extract data and prepare reports covering the Airtel Money customer base, agent base, product performance, growth, and revenue growth.
  • Prepare quarterly Airtel Money reports for presentation to the Airtel Tanzania Board.
  • Prepare monthly reports for Group business reviews, covering customer market share, agent market share, transaction volume share, transaction value share, and market revenue share.
  • Analyze Airtel Money weekly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), highlighting reasons for growth or decline in strategic business KPIs.
  • Generate standard and customized reports summarizing business, financial, and economic data for executives, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.

3. Provide Airtel Money Commercial Teams with Business Performance Visibility

  • Provide greater business visibility and actionable insights to business users across:
    • Business Development, including C2B, B2C, Mobile Banking, and B2B.
    • Consumer products, including Cash In, Cash Out, P2P, Airtime Purchase, Data Bundle Purchase, Loans, and Cards.
    • Enterprise Sales, including corporate and merchant account performance.
  • Enable users across the organization to access relevant and up-to-date intelligence through web-based self-service tools.
  • Work on routine and ad hoc data and business projects involving queries from the data warehouse.
  • Generate customer and product reports.
  • Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, and other business intelligence tools.
  • Track Airtel Money promotions and campaigns, including customer acquisition initiatives, active customer tracking, product user profiling, and segmentation.
  • Construct data extraction queries, reports, and automations in accordance with quality standards and established methods for business reporting and decision support.
  • Extract useful information from large datasets and databases.

4. Data Mining

  • Take ownership of the production and testing of data operations reports using available data sources and tools such as SQL Server, Power Query, and Power Pivot.
  • Work with data and product owners to verify and obtain approval that transformed data retains its accuracy.
  • Execute one-off data extraction and manipulation tasks as required.
  • Ensure data integrity issues are reported immediately and summarized weekly to management and other authorized recipients.
  • Lead the development and integration of data across the organization, including the production, identification, and extraction of data from source systems.
  • Lead data transformation and loading into databases.

5. Support Airtel Money Report Automation

  • Undertake data modeling, dimensioning, and development of new reports in line with reporting requirements.
  • Ensure completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of standard daily, weekly, and monthly reports, as well as ad hoc reports.
  • Work closely with Airtel BI partners and vendors to ensure ongoing development meets business-user requirements.
  • Document specifications for Business Intelligence and Information Technology (IT) reports, dashboards, and other outputs.
  • Work closely with IT, Business Planning, and other business teams to ensure consistency in data definitions and data usage.
  • Establish and maintain policies and standards governing data usage, storage, retention, and development of data definitions.
  • Analyze, simulate, and account for trends and gaps in data and advise the business accordingly.

6. Team and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare monthly performance presentations for Sales and Distribution teams.
  • Ensure timely flow of business intelligence information to users.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • MBA.

Relevant Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience with service reporting tools such as:
    • Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE)
    • Oracle Discoverer
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in:
    • Software development
    • Systems administration
    • IT support services
    • Programming technologies such as .NET Framework, Java, Delphi, or similar technologies
  • Strong business knowledge.
  • Exposure to telecommunications pricing and planning is required.
  • Mobile Money knowledge is preferred.
  • Excellent data analytics and presentation skills.
