Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority Consumer Consultative Council (TCRA CCC)

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology invites nominations for appointment of members to the TCRA Consumer Consultative Council (TCRA CCC).

Background

The TCRA Consumer Consultative Council was established under Section 40(1) of the TCRA Act, CAP 172 R.E 2023.

In accordance with Section 40(4) of the Act, the Minister responsible for Communication invites nominations from both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar for appointment to the Council.

Functions of the Council

Under Section 41(1)(a)-(d) of the TCRA Act, the Council functions include:

• Representing consumer interests by making submissions and providing views and information to the Authority, Minister, and sector Ministers.
• Receiving and disseminating information and views on matters affecting consumers of regulated goods and services.
• Establishing local, regional, and sector consumer committees and consulting with them.
• Consulting with industry, Government, and other consumer groups on matters of consumer interest.

Qualifications Required

Candidates nominated should represent consumers, including the business community, or organizations legally recognized as representatives of private sector interests.

The Council membership should collectively possess knowledge, experience, and understanding of consumer interests and regulated services, particularly regarding:

• Low-income, rural, and disadvantaged persons;
• Industrial and business users; and
• Government and community organizations.

Tenure

Council members shall serve for a period of three years from the date of appointment.

Mode of Application

Nominations should:

• Be submitted in writing;
• Include the name of the organization;
• Include the name of the nominated person;
• Include the name of the nominating person;
• Attach a detailed CV and certified copies of relevant certificates.

CV Requirements

The CV should include:

• Names;
• Addresses;
• Telephone numbers; and
• Email addresses of three referees, including the sponsoring entity.
