Job Title: Waiter / Waitress – Barista Experience Preferred Department: Food & Beverage Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Role Purpose: The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent food and beverage service, ensuring a welcoming guest experience, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service throughout the operation. Candidates with Barista experience and knowledge of coffee preparation will be highly desirable, particularly those who are comfortable supporting beverage service during busy periods.
Job Description
Education:
-
Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality, Food & Beverage Service, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience:
-
Previous experience as a Waiter/Waitress, Food & Beverage Attendant, or similar hospitality role.
-
Barista experience is highly desirable.
-
Basic knowledge of coffee preparation and beverage service will be an added advantage.
-
Experience in a hotel, restaurant, café, coffee shop, or other hospitality environment preferred.
-
Good knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
-
Strong customer service and communication skills.
-
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
-
Good command of English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

General Responsibilities:
Guest Service:
-
Welcome and engage guests in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.

Present menus, explain food and beverage options, and provide recommendations where appropriate.

Take accurate food and beverage orders and ensure they are communicated correctly to the kitchen/bar.
-
Serve food and beverages efficiently and according to established service standards.
-
Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience and respond promptly to requests.
-
Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally, escalating issues where necessary.
-
Present bills accurately and process payments in accordance with company procedures.
Food & Beverage Service:
-
Set up tables, service areas, and stations before service.
-
Ensure food and beverages are presented attractively and served at the appropriate temperature.
-
Maintain knowledge of the menu, ingredients, allergens, and available beverages.
-
Assist with clearing and resetting tables efficiently.
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas.
-
Prepare and serve coffee and other hot and cold beverages to established standards.
-
Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other beverage equipment safely and correctly.
-
Demonstrate basic knowledge of espresso-based beverages such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, and americano.

Maintain cleanliness of coffee equipment and the beverage preparation area.
-
Assist with beverage preparation during peak service periods as required.
Teamwork & Operations:
-
Work closely with kitchen, bar, and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service.
-
Support colleagues during busy periods and assist with other operational duties as required.
-
Follow company policies, food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures.
-
Maintain a professional appearance and consistently uphold the company’s service standards.
-
Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and restocking service areas.
