About the Role
Planet Lodges & Lairs Camps is seeking an experienced and passionate Wellness and Spas Manager to lead and elevate its wellness offering across all properties. This role focuses on delivering premium, personalised spa experiences while building a high-performing team and maintaining exceptional service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Wellness Programme Development
- Lead and develop the wellness programme across all properties
- Design seasonal and tailored wellness experiences aligned with guest profiles and natural surroundings
- Ensure offerings reflect the brand’s premium positioning
Guest Experience & Treatment Delivery
- Deliver expert massage and body treatments to guests
- Conduct consultations and tailor treatments to individual needs
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, products, and guest preferences
- Respond professionally to guest feedback and continuously improve service quality
Training & Team Development
- Train and mentor spa teams across all locations
- Establish structured training programs covering:
- Treatment techniques
- Service standards
- Hygiene protocols
- Guest communication
- Provide regular performance assessments and constructive feedback
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence
Operations & Quality Control
- Travel across properties to conduct quality checks and provide hands-on support
- Establish and enforce SOPs, hygiene, and safety standards
- Manage spa inventory and product stock
- Work closely with property managers to integrate wellness into the guest experience
Supplier & Product Management
- Source and manage relationships with suppliers and equipment providers
- Ensure high-quality products and consistency across all locations
Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Internationally recognised qualification in:
- Massage Therapy
- Esthetics
- Holistic Wellness
- Certifications such as ITEC, CIDESCO, CIBTAC or equivalent
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a practising massage therapist
- Strong background in high-end hospitality (luxury hotels, safari lodges, wellness retreats)
- Experience delivering personalised services to high-net-worth clients
- Experience developing or expanding wellness programmes (advantageous)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong coaching and staff development skills
- Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills
- High attention to detail and professional presentation
- Strong organisational and leadership abilities
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel frequently across properties in Tanzania
- Experience in African safari or bush lodge environments (preferred)
- Knowledge of African-inspired wellness traditions (added advantage)
- Familiarity with spa management systems and product management
