Position Purpose
The Zone Engineering Centre (ZEC) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the establishment and start-up of the Zone Engineering Centre (ZEC), including project management, equipment procurement, development of engineering capabilities, and implementation of management systems.
The role will also oversee reverse engineering initiatives aimed at delivering substantial savings in:
- Maintenance budgets
- Unplanned Plant Performance (UPP) costs
- Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) targets
- Change parts and spare parts expenditure
The position plays a critical role in strengthening engineering innovation, fabrication capabilities, and technical problem-solving across the zone.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. ZEC Start-Up and Project Management
The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate the establishment and operational launch of the Zone Engineering Centre.
- Manage construction and facility setup projects.
- Oversee procurement and installation of engineering equipment and systems.
- Ensure successful implementation of:
- Engineering processes
- Operating procedures
- Management systems
- Technical infrastructure
2. Engineering Technology and Equipment Development
The role will oversee acquisition and implementation of:
- 3D Scanning technologies
- CAD/CAM design systems
- Reverse engineering tools
- CNC machining capabilities
- Fabrication equipment
- 3D printing technologies
- Engineering software and hardware platforms
3. Strategy Development and Portfolio Management
The ZEC Coordinator will:
- Develop the team’s strategy and operational roadmap.
- Build and manage project and product portfolios.
- Align priorities with stakeholders across the business.
- Support short-, medium-, and long-term engineering objectives.
Key stakeholders include:
- Breweries
- ZBS
- Zitec
- South African Zone (SAZ)
- Asia-Pacific (APAC) Zones
- Suppliers and technical partners
4. Feasibility and Project Evaluation
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitating feasibility studies for engineering projects.
- Assessing technical and financial viability of initiatives.
- Supporting project prioritization and investment decisions.
- Evaluating opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvement.
5. Budget and Financial Management
The successful candidate will:
- Review and support project budget development.
- Monitor engineering project costs.
- Track financial performance of initiatives.
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources.
- Drive engineering savings and value creation opportunities.
6. Project Delivery and Backlog Management
The role requires:
- Managing and refining project and product backlogs.
- Monitoring project execution and delivery.
- Ensuring projects are completed according to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Driving continuous improvement in project execution.
7. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
The ZEC Coordinator will:
- Facilitate communication between engineering teams and other business functions.
- Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate project updates and performance reviews.
- Ensure alignment of engineering activities with business objectives.
8. Resource Planning and Performance Management
The successful candidate will:
- Plan, organize, and manage engineering resources.
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Drive efficiency, productivity, and technical excellence.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering projects and initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
Academic Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience within:
- Brewing industry
- Packaging industry
- Manufacturing environments
