Position Purpose

The Packaging Process Artisan is responsible for operating and maintaining packaging equipment and processes to ensure:

  • Consistent product quality
  • Maximum production throughput
  • Minimum waste generation
  • Efficient machine performance
  • Compliance with safety and quality standards

The role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth packaging operations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.


Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Packaging Process Operations

The successful candidate will:

  • Operate packaging equipment according to established procedures and standards.
  • Ensure efficient packaging process performance.
  • Support achievement of production targets while maintaining product quality.

2. Machine Operations

Responsibilities include:

  • Machine start-up procedures.
  • Machine shutdown procedures.
  • Routine operation and monitoring of packaging equipment.
  • Managing operational waste and minimizing losses.
  • Ensuring machines perform efficiently throughout production runs.

3. Brand and Pack Changeovers

The Packaging Process Artisan will:

  • Execute product and packaging changeovers efficiently.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between brands and pack formats.
  • Minimize downtime during changeover activities.

4. Safety, Health, and Environment

The role requires:

  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Following company safety procedures and regulations.
  • Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Supporting workplace housekeeping and safety initiatives.

5. Cleaning and First-Level Maintenance

The successful candidate will:

  • Perform in-depth equipment cleaning.
  • Carry out first-level maintenance activities.
  • Ensure equipment remains in good operating condition.
  • Report technical issues requiring advanced maintenance support.

6. Process Monitoring and Control

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring packaging process performance.
  • Tracking production efficiency and operational targets.
  • Monitoring process inputs and outputs.
  • Identifying process deviations and inefficiencies.

7. Quality Assurance

The Packaging Process Artisan will:

  • Conduct routine quality checks.
  • Ensure products meet company quality standards.
  • Identify and respond to quality deviations.
  • Take corrective actions when quality issues arise.

8. Corrective Actions and Problem Solving

The role involves:

  • Identifying operational problems quickly.
  • Implementing corrective actions to restore process stability.
  • Contributing to root cause analysis and process improvements.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

9. Team Participation and Communication

The successful candidate will:

  • Participate actively in team activities and meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Diploma in:
    • Mechanical Engineering, or
    • Electrical Engineering

Professional Qualification

  • Trade Test Certificate in:
    • Mechanical Trade, or
    • Electrical Trade

Experience Requirements

  • Experience working in a packaging process environment.
  • Practical exposure to manufacturing or production operations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
