ASSISTANT MANAGER (3) – JOB VACANCY


Purpose of the Role

Tabono, on behalf of its client, is seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager to:

  • Oversee day-to-day travel retail operations at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA)
  • Organize and supervise Sales Associates during assigned shifts

Reporting Line

  • Reports to: Branch Manager

Location

  • KIA – International Departure Lounge, Kilimanjaro International Airport

Key Outputs

  • Maintain shop operations according to defined standards
  • Supervise and motivate Sales Associates
  • Achieve company sales targets and objectives
  • Ensure optimal stock levels at all times

Key Responsibilities

1. Point of Sale

Shop Management & Presentation

  • Oversee shop condition and layout
  • Implement product arrangements
  • Ensure all items are properly labeled
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization

Commercial Activities

  • Implement promotions and campaigns
  • Execute supplier activations (marketing, tastings, materials)

Cash Management

  • Ensure sufficient change in tills
  • Supervise cashier closing procedures

Customer Care

  • Lead team in delivering excellent customer service
  • Handle escalated customer issues

Team Coordination & Operations

  • Conduct shift briefings
  • Allocate staff roles and responsibilities
  • Share updates and communications
  • Report faulty equipment
  • Monitor and report suspicious behavior
  • Report shift performance and events

2. Human Resources

Staff Planning

  • Review schedules and identify staffing gaps
  • Adjust shifts for absenteeism
  • Allocate staff based on passenger traffic
  • Plan staff breaks

Training

  • Support training of new and existing staff

Attendance & Discipline

  • Monitor punctuality and attendance
  • Report absenteeism and lateness
  • Take corrective actions when needed

Performance Management

  • Ensure task completion
  • Conduct daily briefings and debriefings
  • Report performance and behavioral issues

3. Stock Management

  • Manage stock transfers (warehouse and between shops)
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels
  • Oversee stock control processes
