Job Overview
Isamilo International School is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) to lead and coordinate the provision of support for students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) across the school.
The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in promoting an inclusive learning environment and ensuring students receive appropriate academic, social, emotional, and personal support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the school’s SEND provision in line with school policies and international best practices.
- Identify students requiring additional support and coordinate appropriate interventions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other support strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support learners effectively.
- Provide staff guidance and training on inclusive teaching strategies and classroom differentiation.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate SEND records and documentation.
- Advise the Senior Leadership Team on SEND matters, policy development, and compliance.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment that supports the overall development and wellbeing of students.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- A recognised teaching qualification and valid professional registration.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, including proven experience supporting learners with SEND.
- Strong knowledge of inclusive education practices and intervention strategies.
Added Advantages
The following qualifications and experience will be highly desirable:
- Additional qualification or certification in Special Educational Needs, Inclusive Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience in leadership, coordination, or learning support.
- Experience working in an international school.
- Experience with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
