Position Overview
AKES, Tanzania is seeking an experienced Assistant Civil Works / Finishing Package Manager to support school construction and refurbishment projects.
The successful candidate will assist in planning, coordinating, monitoring, and reporting on civil and finishing works to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and in compliance with quality, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support design reviews to ensure:
- Technical suitability
- Cost-effectiveness
- Alignment with project specifications
- Monitor:
- Construction quality and finishing standards
- EHS compliance
- Coordination among contractors
- Assist with:
- Materials scheduling and resource planning
- Progress meetings and reporting
- Document control and project tracking
- Support procurement and financial processes:
- Tendering and contractor prequalification
- Cost analysis and value engineering
- Payment certification
- Contribute to project quality and completion:
- QA/QC processes
- Risk identification and mitigation
- Snagging and defect liability management
- Project close-out activities
- Promote sustainability by:
- Supporting environmental protection initiatives
- Tracking greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions during construction
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Civil Engineering
- Construction Engineering
- Architecture or related field
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in:
- Civil works
- Finishing package management
(Experience in educational projects is an added advantage)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Contract documentation
- Construction standards
- EHS requirements
- Local and British Standards (BS codes)
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- MS Project
- Other relevant construction software
