Assistant MEP Package Manager

Position Overview
AKES, Tanzania is seeking an experienced Assistant MEP Package Manager for the Mzizma School Refurbishment and Extension Project.
The successful candidate will support the MEP Package Manager in coordinating and supervising MEPF–ICT construction works, ensuring delivery of engineering systems in line with scope, quality, safety, time, and budget requirements.
Position Summary
The role involves overseeing installation and performance of key building systems, including:
- Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems
- ICT infrastructure
- HVAC systems
- Plumbing and hydraulics
- Elevators and transformer substations
- Water supply systems and pump stations
- Landscaping-related services
Key Responsibilities
- Support project cost control and ensure work packages are delivered within budget
- Assist in tendering processes, including:
- Contractor prequalification
- Bid meetings and analysis
- Contractor selection and appointment
- Review:
- Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
- Variation claims
- Completed works for contract compliance
- Monitor project progress against schedules and support planning activities
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure:
- Quality standards
- Safety compliance
- Equipment performance
- Ensure QA/QC documentation meets project specifications and procedures
- Maintain accurate records, including:
- Site diaries
- Progress reports
- Work schedules
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and workforce resources
- Support:
- Testing and commissioning
- Certification processes
- Snagging and defect resolution
- Project close-out
- Ensure compliance with AKES procedures, safety standards, risk assessments, and method statements
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- MEP Engineering
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in:
- MEP design and/or construction
- Package management within construction projects
(Experience in educational facilities is an added advantage)
- Proven experience in delivering MEP packages from inception to operation
- Strong knowledge of:
- Contract documentation
- BOQs
- Local and British Standards (BS codes)
- Safety regulations
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- MS Project
- Construction management tools
