Job Overview

• Position: Barista & Café Attendant

• Reports To: Bakery Supervisor / Store Manager

• Location: Oyster Bay, Dar es Salaam

• Working Hours: Monday to Friday (8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.) and Saturday (8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.). Additional hours may be required during busy periods with prior approval from management.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, tea, fresh juices, smoothies, and other beverages while delivering exceptional customer service. The role includes serving bakery products, maintaining cleanliness of the bakery, café, and customer seating area, and ensuring every customer enjoys a friendly and welcoming experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso-based coffees, teas, and hot/cold beverages to company standards.

• Prepare fresh juices, smoothies, milkshakes, and other specialty beverages.

• Serve bakery products, pastries, cakes, sandwiches, and other food items.

• Welcome customers warmly and provide professional, efficient service.

• Assist customers with menu recommendations and product information.

• Maintain cleanliness of the coffee station, bakery display, equipment, and seating area.

• Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, blenders, juicers, and café equipment.

• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.

• Handle customer concerns professionally and refer issues to management when necessary.

• Assist with opening and closing cleaning procedures and perform other related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Barista, Café Attendant, or in a similar role.

• A Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality, Food & Beverage, Hotel Management, or a related field is an added advantage.

• Must be fluent in both English and Swahili.

• Experience preparing espresso coffees, teas, fresh juices, smoothies, and café beverages.

• Excellent customer service, communication, teamwork, and time management skills.

• Friendly, reliable, honest, well-groomed, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
