Job Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking qualified and experienced Clinical Officers to support clinical trial activities under the Achieve Study.
Successful candidates will work at selected clinical trial sites responsible for:
- Recruitment of study participants
- Conducting scheduled participant visits
- Screening study volunteers
- Completing case report forms
- Providing clinical care according to national treatment guidelines

Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Officer will be responsible for:
- Attending community sensitization meetings for study volunteers.
- Treating patients according to National Standard Treatment Guidelines.
- Reviewing laboratory results and resolving data-related queries.
- Participating in:
- Internal meetings
- External meetings
- Departmental meetings
- Supporting the development of:
- Study SOPs
- Study documents
- Conducting recruitment and enrolment visits according to:
- Study protocols
- SOPs
- Ensuring:
- Compliance with approved protocols
- Adherence to ethical standards
- Proper implementation of ICH Guidelines and local regulations
- Supervising study procedures to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintaining professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
- Building trust and strong communication with study participants and communities.
- Supporting community engagement and coordination activities.
- Maintaining collaboration with:
- Participating health facilities
- Community stakeholders
- Assisting with sensitization and recruitment activities.
- Performing additional duties assigned by the Project Leader.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine
- Registration and authorization to practice as a Clinical Officer by the:
- Medical Council of Tanganyika
Required Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in clinical research.

Candidates should demonstrate:
- Basic digital and computer skills
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Office
- Data management tools
- Time management and planning skills
- Knowledge of:
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong:

- Problem-solving ability
- Ability to meet deadlines
Preferred Languages
Applicants should have good oral communication skills in:
- English
- Swahili
