Electrical Engineer – Compliance (1 Position)

Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer – Compliance will act as the legally appointed site Electrical Engineer, ensuring full compliance with mining and electrical legislation. The role is responsible for overseeing electrical systems, ensuring safety standards, and maintaining operational reliability across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the legally appointed Electrical Engineer – Compliance for the site
• Ensure compliance with:
  • Tanzania Electricity Rules (1932)
  • Tanzania Electrical Act (2008)
• Oversee design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of:
  • High-voltage distribution systems
  • Underground cabling
  • Fixed plant equipment (up to 11kV)
• Lead the design and approval of High Voltage Switching Procedures
• Ensure adherence to the Site High Voltage Safety Management Plan
• Maintain accurate and updated power system protection settings for:
  • Feeders
  • Incomers
  • Circuit breakers
• Liaise with regulators, auditors, and inspectors
• Maintain records of inspections, testing, and maintenance schedules
• Lead investigations into electrical incidents and implement corrective actions
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to:
  • Electricians
  • Apprentices
  • Contractors
• Report any irregularities to supervisors and senior management

Qualifications

• Recognized:
  • Trade Certificate
  • Engineering Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Valid EWURA Class A or B Electrical Installation Licence

Experience

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in:
  • Mining or construction industry
  • Electrical supervision or compliance roles
• Strong expertise in:
  • Power distribution systems
  • Operation, maintenance, and reliability

• Strong knowledge of electrical compliance and safety standards
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Leadership and team supervision ability
