Position Overview
Designation: Principal Officer – Bancassurance
The role is responsible for leading and expanding the bank’s bancassurance business, driving sales performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong relationships with insurance partners while delivering high-quality and ethical customer service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all bancassurance activities in compliance with regulations and ethical standards
- Develop and implement strategies to achieve sales targets and business growth
- Manage relationships with insurance partners, including:
- Negotiation of agency agreements and commissions
- Oversee life and non-life insurance products, including claims processing within agreed timelines
- Act as the main liaison between:
- The Bank
- Insurance companies
- Customers
- Drive sales across branches, including client onboarding and retention
- Ensure delivery of high-quality customer service and ethical practices
- Maintain compliance with regulatory authorities such as:
- Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority
- Bank of Tanzania
- Coordinate financial, audit, and tax matters related to bancassurance
- Train staff, identify knowledge gaps, and support marketing initiatives
- Build relationships with regulators and stay updated on industry developments
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Ensure achievement of assigned performance targets
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance and Risk Management
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the insurance sector in Tanzania
- Candidates with:
- A Master’s degree
- Experience in a commercial bank
will have an added advantage
- Certificate of proficiency in Insurance from a recognized institution
- Strong knowledge of insurance laws and regulations
Eligibility Criteria
- Only Tanzanian nationals are eligible to apply
- The position is transferable within Tanzania as required by the Bank
