Program Purpose

The Emerging Bankers Program is a three-month structured training programme designed to attract, develop, and assess young Tanzanian graduates who are interested in building careers in banking.

Participants will gain practical exposure across key banking business lines, receive guidance from experienced Mwanga Hakika Bank bankers, and develop practical skills through structured training and on-the-job rotations.

Successful participants may be considered for employment with the Bank after completing the programme.

Key Responsibilities

1. Learning and Rotation

• Actively participate in structured training and on-the-job rotations.
• Gain exposure across:
  • Retail Banking.
  • SME Banking.
  • Corporate Banking.
  • Banking Operations.
• Participate in rotations according to the schedule provided by the Bank.

2. Practical Banking Exposure

• Support assigned teams with day-to-day banking activities under supervision.
• Apply knowledge gained during training to real banking processes.
• Develop practical understanding of banking products and services.
• Apply appropriate customer service standards.

3. Mentorship and Development

• Engage with assigned MHB bankers and supervisors.
• Seek feedback and apply recommendations to improve performance.
• Complete all assigned learning activities and assessments within the required timelines.

4. Group Business Project

• Work collaboratively with other programme participants to develop a business project.
• Conduct research and analysis relevant to the project.
• Present findings and recommendations to the Bank’s management.

5. Compliance and Professional Conduct

• Comply with the Bank’s policies and procedures.
• Adhere to the Bank’s Code of Conduct.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling Bank and customer information.
• Comply with applicable risk management and regulatory requirements.

6. Attendance and Professionalism

• Maintain punctuality and regular attendance throughout the programme.
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
• Positively represent the Bank’s brand and values.

7. Program Requirements

• Meet all programme requirements and performance expectations.
• Complete the required training, assessments, rotations, and other programme activities to qualify for the Certificate of Completion.
• Participants who successfully complete the programme may be considered for employment opportunities with the Bank.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a University Degree in one of the following fields or a related discipline:
  • Business.
  • Finance.
  • Human Resources.
  • Economics.
  • Accounting.
  • Banking.
  • Information Technology (IT).
• Be a fresh graduate or have graduated within the last three years.
• Be aged between 21 and 28 years at the time of application.
• Be a Tanzanian national.
• Be fluent in both English and Kiswahili, in written and spoken communication.

Added Advantage

• Previous work experience in banking, finance, or a related environment.
• Internship experience in banking, finance, or a related field will also be considered an advantage.
