Job Overview
Barrick is seeking a Geologist to join the North Mara Gold Mine team. The role supports mining operations through geological interpretation, grade control, data management, reporting, and ensuring safe and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Follow all HSE policies and procedures
- Provide safety leadership to staff, contractors, and partners
- Ensure compliance with company and legal safety standards
Geological Activities & Data Management
- Perform 3D geological interpretation (sections, maps, block models)
- Support ore polygon creation and model updates
- Prepare drill pads and coordinate drilling activities
- Conduct ore analysis, sampling, and risk assessments
- Ensure QA/QC procedures for samples and assays
- Manage ore reconciliation and dilution control
- Use systems such as OREPro and ore movement technologies (BMT/OREPro)
- Monitor production sites, stockpiles, and grade updates
Planning, Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Contribute to mine planning and operational decision-making
- Collaborate with survey, metallurgy, geotechnical, and operations teams
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly geological reports
- Provide inputs for grade control, dilution control, and recovery optimization
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and mentor geological technicians and assistants
- Support training and professional development
- Promote continuous improvement and performance delivery
Operational Support
- Oversee grade control drilling and contractor performance
- Manage geological budgets and operational efficiency
- Ensure safe operation of manual transmission vehicles (mandatory requirement)
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare accurate geological and mining reports
- Monitor flitch performance and geological risks
- Ensure timely submission of all required documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology or related field
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in mine or exploration geology
- Experience with mining software (Vulcan, Leapfrog, Micromine or similar)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Strong organization and attention to detail
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Commitment to occupational health, safety, and environmental standards
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
