Job Overview

Rafiki Retreat is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lodge General Manager to oversee all administrative and operational activities of the lodge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences, improving operational performance, driving business growth, and supporting sustainable tourism initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Lodge General Manager will be responsible for:

• Managing all administrative and operational activities of the lodge.
• Developing and implementing marketing strategies to increase lodge visibility and attract new clients.
• Leading, managing, and motivating the lodge team.
• Assigning duties based on employees’ skills, strengths, and capabilities.
• Preparing and managing budgets to ensure cost-effective operations.
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and overall lodge performance.
• Driving revenue growth through client acquisition and stronger market presence.
• Preparing regular financial and operational performance reports for the lodge owner.
• Introducing environmentally friendly initiatives aligned with sustainable tourism goals.
• Maintaining excellent customer service standards.
• Building strong relationships with guests, partners, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in hotel, tourism, or hospitality management.
• Strong knowledge of the Tanzanian tourism and hospitality industry.
• Proven experience in developing strategies to increase visibility, occupancy, and business performance.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, budgeting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible tourism practices.

Language Requirements

• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of an additional European language (especially German) is an advantage.
