Role Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the entire logistics and distribution function, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and compliant movement of cement products across the supply chain.

The role focuses on distribution strategy, transport optimization, digital transformation, cost control, and leadership of logistics teams and partners.


Key Responsibilities

1. Distribution Strategy & Logistics Planning

  • Develop and review effective distribution models aligned with business strategy
  • Design logistics strategies to meet dynamic market and demand conditions
  • Ensure efficient end-to-end supply chain execution

2. Transport and Partner Management

  • Manage relationships with rail and road transport providers
  • Coordinate with strategic logistics partners to achieve business objectives
  • Ensure transport performance, reliability, and service quality

3. Weighbridge and Yard Operations

  • Oversee smooth operation of weighbridges in compliance with government regulations
  • Manage truck inflow and outflow in parking yards and loading points
  • Ensure efficient vehicle movement and reduced congestion

4. Inbound and Outbound Logistics Optimization

  • Develop and implement backhauling strategies
  • Improve transport efficiency for inbound raw materials and outbound products
  • Enhance load optimization and fleet utilization

5. Depot and Network Management

  • Oversee management of depots nationwide
  • Ensure consistent performance across distribution points
  • Improve stock availability and delivery performance

6. Cost Control and Financial Management

  • Manage logistics cost structure and operational budgets
  • Ensure cost efficiency across transport and distribution operations
  • Enforce proper administrative and financial controls

7. Digital Transformation

  • Drive digitalization of logistics operations
  • Implement tracking, visibility, and logistics management systems
  • Improve data-driven decision-making in supply chain operations

8. Fleet Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure regular truck inspections and compliance with safety standards
  • Monitor licenses, insurance, and payload limits
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and statutory requirements
  • Enforce environmental and safety policies

9. Leadership and People Management

  • Lead and develop logistics teams to achieve performance targets
  • Promote collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Build a strong performance-driven culture

10. Governance and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Heidelberg Materials Group Code of Conduct
  • Adhere to corporate policies, legal frameworks, and environmental regulations
  • Maintain ethical and transparent operational standards

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Logistics
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Operations Management
    • or related field

Added Advantage

  • MBA or Postgraduate in Sales & Marketing
  • Professional certifications such as:
    • CSCP
    • SCOR-P
    • CSCMP
    • CPL

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management
  • Exposure across:
    • Transport operations
    • Logistics planning
    • Warehousing
    • Distribution management
  • Experience in sales function (advantage)
  • Strong understanding of cement industry operations

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of supply chain and logistics systems
  • Knowledge of cement industry and distribution networks
  • Understanding of macroeconomic factors and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to manage multi-site logistics operations
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft 365 Suite) and logistics systems
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to manage cost, efficiency, and performance metrics
