NAFGEM Tanzania implements programs aimed at improving health and social outcomes in marginalized communities while combating:

  • Female genital mutilation (FGM)
  • Child marriage
  • Gender-based violence

Project Overview

NAFGEM Tanzania is a sub-awardee to Pact under the ACHIEVE Tanzania Project.

The ACHIEVE Project focuses on reducing HIV incidence and improving health outcomes among:

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding women
  • Adolescents
  • Infants
  • Children

The project has expanded to include Maternal, Newborn, Child Health, and Nutrition (MNCHN) interventions across:

  • Arusha
  • Kilimanjaro
  • Lindi

The intervention will be implemented across 20 councils to strengthen maternal and child healthcare systems.


Position Details

Position Title

MNCH and Nutrition Regional Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Officers (ME&L Officers)

Number of Positions

3 Positions

Duty Stations

  • 1 Position – Lindi
  • 1 Position – Kilimanjaro
  • 1 Position – Arusha

Contract Duration

June – August 2026 (3 Months)

Reporting To

Executive Director


Position Purpose

The ME&L Officers will coordinate:

  • Data collection
  • Data analysis
  • Data interpretation
  • Monitoring and reporting activities

to support implementation of MNCH and Nutrition interventions across project sites.

The officers will ensure:

  • Data quality assurance
  • Timely reporting
  • Evidence-based decision-making
  • Improved maternal and child health outcomes

They will also support capacity building for staff and stakeholders involved in program implementation.


Key Responsibilities

The MNCH and Nutrition Regional ME&L Officers will:

  • Support implementation and oversight of MNCH and Nutrition monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Contribute to development of workplans and indicator frameworks.
  • Support data management and reporting processes.
  • Conduct data analysis, visualization, and interpretation of trends.
  • Engage program and technical teams in reviewing data for informed decision-making.
  • Generate quarterly and periodic analytical reports.
  • Coordinate communication with the Pact MER Unit.
  • Ensure timely production and sharing of quality data with regional and technical teams.

Capacity Building Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor:
    • HMIS Coordinators
    • RCHSCos
    • DRCHCos
    • Other relevant personnel

in:

  • Data collection
  • Data quality assessment
  • Data analysis
  • Data visualization
  • Data management
  • RMNCH and Nutrition reporting

Technical & Coordination Responsibilities

  • Support periodic data quality assessments.
  • Collaborate with HMIS Coordinators to strengthen M&E systems at:
    • Regional level
    • District level
    • Facility level
  • Strengthen DHIS2 data visualization capacity.
  • Facilitate quarterly data review meetings and data quality assurance activities.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • University degree in:
    • Public Health
    • Sociology
    • Demography
    • Statistics
    • Other related social science fields
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Data quality assessment
    • Data analysis
    • Data visualization
    • Data use
  • 2–3 years of experience in RMNCH and Nutrition programming
  • Experience working in health facilities (added advantage)
  • Experience as a trainer or facilitator
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using DHIS2 (preferred)
  • Experience with additional software tools is an advantage
