Serai is a new, rapidly growing hospitality company based in Arusha, Tanzania, building a premium portfolio of high-quality vacation rental properties. We are at an exciting early stage with ambitious plans to expand, and we are looking for the right people to help shape the company from the ground up.

Job Overview

  • Role: Operations Manager (Hospitality & Vacation Rental Properties)

  • Job Type: Full-Time

  • Location: Arusha, Tanzania

  • Reporting To: Managing Director

The Role

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operational performance of multiple vacation rental properties. Your focus will be on ensuring excellent guest experiences, maintaining smooth daily operations, and keeping properties in pristine condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Property Care: Keep all properties in excellent condition; oversee routine maintenance, conduct quality inspections, and uphold strict operational standards.

  • Guest Experience: Manage guest communication before, during, and after stays; oversee check-in/check-out procedures; resolve complaints swiftly and ensure outstanding reviews.

  • Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise housekeeping and operational staff; prepare schedules and monitor overall performance.

  • Bookings & Revenue: Manage reservations, optimize dynamic pricing, and maximize occupancy and revenue.

  • Financial Management: Control operating costs, manage budgets, process invoices, oversee petty cash, handle purchasing, and prepare clear owner reports.

  • Procurement & Vendors: Source supplies, manage inventory, and coordinate external contractors, gardeners, security, laundry providers, and other service partners.

  • Marketing: Optimize listings on Airbnb and other Online Travel Agencies (OTAs), coordinate professional photography, and support the brand’s social media presence.

  • Compliance: Ensure all properties meet local regulations, permits, safety, and hygiene requirements.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Several years of experience in hospitality, hotel, resort, or vacation rental management.

  • Tech Savvy: Practical experience with Airbnb and Property Management Systems (PMS).

  • Skills: Solid knowledge of revenue management, operational budgeting, excellent organizational skills, and strong leadership abilities.

  • Interpersonal: Outstanding customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Languages: Fluent English is required; Swahili language skills are a strong advantage.
