Job Summary — Project Manager
This opportunity is with NMB Bank Plc and is based at the Head Office in Dar es Salaam.
The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring strategic banking projects and programs are delivered successfully within approved timelines, budgets, scope, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
The successful candidate will:
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and vendors during project implementation
- Organize workshops to define:
- Project objectives
- Scope
- Governance structures
- Controls and implementation approaches
- Develop comprehensive project plans with:
- Activities
- Deliverables
- Milestones
- Ownership assignments
- Estimate and allocate:
- Resources
- Budgets
- Team participation requirements
Stakeholder Management
- Communicate project progress to stakeholders regularly
- Gather feedback and manage stakeholder expectations
- Address concerns and align stakeholders with project objectives
Vendor Management
- Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Monitor vendor performance against agreed deliverables and timelines
Compliance & Security
- Ensure delivered solutions comply with:
- Banking regulations
- Industry standards
- Work with cybersecurity teams to safeguard:
- Digital platforms
- Customer information
- Data security
Project Governance & Control
- Establish project governance frameworks and communication structures
- Serve as secretary for:
- Project Working Committee (PWC)
- Project Steering Committee (PSC)
- Manage:
- Risks
- Issues
- Dependencies
- Assumptions
- Escalate critical matters appropriately
- Control project scope, timelines, costs, and change requests
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Facilitate testing strategy and planning
- Oversee:
- System Integration Testing (SIT)
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Ensure project deliverables meet organizational quality standards
Project Closure
- Conduct closure workshops
- Document lessons learned
- Ensure support and maintenance structures are properly handed over
Required Knowledge & Skills
Technical & Professional Skills
- Understanding of:
- Banking processes
- Business process re-engineering
- Extensive experience with:
- Core banking systems implementation
- Project management methodologies
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- Excellent planning, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Good working knowledge of project management software

- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and shifting priorities

Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- ICT
- Business Administration
- Project Management
- Related fields
Mandatory Certification
- PMI PMP® Certification
Added Advantage Certifications
- AgilePM
- PGMP
- PRINCE2
- CBAP
- Scrum certifications
- Other recognized Agile or Business Analysis certifications
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have:
- Strong practical experience in:
- Project management
- Business analysis
- Experience working in:
- Large corporate environments
- Medium to large organizations
- At least 4 years’ experience managing:
- Projects
- Programs
- Portfolios
