CCBRT focuses on preventing lifelong disabilities and provides specialised services including maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC), obstetric fistula repairs, and emergency referral care through its Maternity and Newborn Wing.
CCBRT is seeking a qualified and motivated Quality and Safety Officer to strengthen its Quality Assurance team.
Job Purpose
The Quality and Safety Officer will support the Quality Assurance Department by monitoring, assessing, and improving healthcare quality standards across the organisation.
The role will lead implementation of the CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan, support nursing and midwifery audits, and promote continuous quality improvement practices.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS)
- Support implementation of Quality Management Systems within the organisation.
- Lead and support:
- 5S methodology
- KAIZEN practices
- Total Quality Management (TQM)
- Lean improvement approaches
- Support integration of QMS into the Health Management Information System (HMIS).
- Conduct internal training and awareness sessions on quality improvement approaches.
Nursing and Midwifery Quality Structures & Processes
- Support the Head of Quality Assurance on daily quality-related activities.
- Conduct internal quality audits and follow up on audit findings.
- Prepare quality reports.
- Support quality-related complaint management processes.
- Assist in scientific problem-solving initiatives.
Monitoring and Assessment
- Monitor implementation progress of the Quality Improvement Plan.
- Assess compliance with Quality Management Systems.
- Review documentation and provide capacity building where gaps exist.
- Support improvement of processes, procedures, and guidelines.
- Assist in developing and reviewing organisational documents.
- Plan and conduct annual quality-related training programmes.
CCBRT Quality Improvement Plan
- Collect client feedback and prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
- Train teams on improving services based on customer feedback.
- Support review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Communicate progress on Quality Improvement Plans.
- Coordinate internal Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) assessments.
Audits
- Conduct nursing audits.
- Perform clinical quality audits.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in:
- General Nursing
- Midwifery
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Nursing Administration
- More than 6 years of clinical experience.
- Experience working in a Quality Assurance section will be an added advantage.
- Strong clinical skills and experience managing different patient cases.
- Ability to train, coach, and mentor healthcare teams.
- Strong team mobilisation skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to conduct clinical audits.
- Good computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing environments.
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
