Organizational Context
Movement Operations are a core function of IOM, responsible for organizing the safe and efficient movement of migrants and refugees. These operations are coordinated globally and implemented through country offices.

- Direct Supervision: Resource Management Officer
Position Title
Senior Finance Associate
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Manage financial resources including assets, funds, and supplies in line with IOM regulations
- Monitor expenditures and ensure they remain within approved budgets
- Consolidate financial data into reports and statements
Budgeting & Planning
- Support preparation and revision of annual budgets
- Estimate operational costs including staffing, utilities, and services
Compliance & Control
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures
- Verify vendor claims and ensure proper documentation
- Maintain and monitor vendor accounts
Payroll & Payments
- Manage payroll processes and validate monthly payroll results
- Ensure all disbursements are properly authorized and documented
Reporting & Analysis
- Provide regular and ad hoc financial reports
- Support informed decision-making through financial analysis
Audit Support
- Respond to audit queries
- Follow up on audit recommendations
Supervision & Guidance
- Provide guidance and training to finance support staff
- Support managers and project teams on financial matters
Additional Duties
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field with at least 4 years of experience
OR - High school diploma with at least 6 years of relevant experience
Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with SAP is an advantage
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience in multicultural or international organizations is an advantage

Languages
- Fluency in English and Swahili (oral and written) is required
