About Transpower Ltd

Transpower Ltd is seeking highly motivated and experienced Site Engineers to join its project team. The successful candidates will be responsible for supervising and managing construction activities on-site, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards and engineering specifications.


Job Summary

The Site Engineer will oversee construction activities involving medium-voltage power distribution infrastructure, ensuring that all installations comply with approved designs, technical specifications, safety regulations, and national and international engineering standards.

The role requires close coordination with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery from construction through testing, commissioning, and handover.


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise construction works, including:
    • Detailed site surveys
    • Pole erection
    • Stringing of conductors
    • Medium Voltage (MV) substations
    • Household electrical connections
  • Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, Bills of Materials (BoM), safety regulations, and applicable national and international standards.
  • Manage and supervise construction personnel, subcontractors, and labourers.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures through inspections and regular site reviews.
  • Follow up on the rectification and completion of identified defects (snags).
  • Review engineering designs to ensure systems perform as intended without compromising project scope or quality.
  • Verify that all construction materials meet approved specifications, standards, quantities, and project requirements.
  • Monitor proper material utilization to minimize wastage.
  • Attend technical site meetings and represent the company professionally.
  • Identify potential technical issues and implement timely corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit:
    • Daily progress reports
    • Weekly progress reports
    • Monthly project reports
    • Project implementation schedules
  • Present project progress to stakeholders.
  • Conduct and supervise testing and commissioning of electrical systems and facilities in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
  • Review As-Built Drawings and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals to ensure accuracy and completeness before project handover to the client.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.

Added Advantage

  • Registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer.

Experience

Applicants should have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Site Engineer or Construction Engineer.
  • Proven experience in the construction of:
    • Medium Voltage (MV) Distribution Lines
    • Medium Voltage (MV) Substations
