Role Summary

Computer Centre Tanzania is looking for a motivated Software Engineer with strong Linux expertise to design, develop, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot secure, reliable, and scalable software systems. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
• Develop and optimize applications for Linux-based environments.
• Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux servers.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
• Develop shell scripts and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor application performance and resolve software and system issues.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Quality Assurance (QA), and Infrastructure teams to ensure reliable deployments.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage source code using Git and support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes.
• Implement security best practices for Linux systems and applications.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend system improvements where appropriate.

Qualifications & Requirements

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in software development.
• Strong Linux system administration skills.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language and Bash/Shell scripting.
• Experience with:
