About PropelA Project
PropelA is a four-year project starting in 2026, implemented by Swisscontact and financed by the Hilti Foundation.
The project aims to economically empower 900 Tanzanian youth by improving employability through a high-quality, industry-oriented education system. It will introduce a dual apprenticeship model in electrical installation and plumbing, providing young people with skills aligned with labour market needs.
The project will work with 30 construction companies and public/private vocational education and training stakeholders in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.
In the long term, PropelA aims to support the institutionalization of dual apprenticeships within Tanzania’s vocational education and training system and promote apprenticeships as a strategic human resource solution for companies.
Position Summary
The Training Coordination Officer will serve as the main liaison between Swisscontact’s PropelA project and Don Bosco Technical Training College (DBTTC).
The role will coordinate project implementation, support improvements in training quality, and facilitate integration of PropelA activities into institutional systems to ensure sustainability and long-term ownership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Coordination and Institutional Integration
- Serve as the primary contact person between Swisscontact and DBTTC.
- Coordinate planning, implementation, and monitoring of PropelA activities at DBTTC.
- Develop and monitor work plans, activity schedules, deliverables, and action points.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between project and institutional teams.
- Support integration of PropelA interventions into DBTTC systems, processes, and operations.
- Identify implementation challenges and recommend corrective actions.
2. Training Quality Implementation and Capacity Development
- Support activities aimed at improving training quality.
- Coordinate Training of Trainers (ToT), coaching, mentoring, and capacity-building activities.
- Support classroom-based and workplace-based learning activities.
- Promote continuous improvement in training delivery and learning outcomes.
3. Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, outputs, outcomes, and supporting documents.
- Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to collect, verify, and report project data.
- Prepare project and activity reports.
- Document lessons learned, success stories, challenges, and best practices.
- Use monitoring results and stakeholder feedback to improve implementation.
4. Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Support compliance with national TVET quality standards and accreditation requirements.
- Assist in preparing documents required for inspections, accreditation, certification, and audits.
- Monitor adherence to training quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with Swisscontact policies, donor requirements, safeguarding standards, and national laws.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support other project activities assigned by the Training and Learning Quality Coordinator or Project Manager.
- Perform other duties necessary to achieve project objectives.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Education
- Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)
- Project Management
- Social Sciences
- Development Studies
- Or related fields.
- At least 3 years of experience in:
- Project coordination
- TVET programmes
- Workforce development
- Education or skills development projects.
- Experience working with:
- Training institutions
- Employers
- Government stakeholders
- Experience in:
- Monitoring and reporting
- Activity coordination
- Strong:
- Coordination and organizational skills
- Stakeholder engagement skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Workplace & Travel Requirements
- Primary duty station: Dodoma, Tanzania.
- Occasional travel required to Morogoro and other locations in East Africa.
